I received this card from Echo, absolutely one of the most beautiful mountain views I've seen. 

Nanyan Temple in Wudang Mount is listed as the national cultural relic as a famous Taoism palace. Nanyan is known as the most spectacular spot of the 36 scenic places in Mt. Wudangshan. It was as early as the Tang and Song Dynasty (618-1279) that Taoist priests practiced Taoism here and built Taoist temples for worshiping. Historical records show there were more than 600 buildings in Nanyan but most of them were destroyed in the late years of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

Violetta sent this funny postcard of  Vincent. It is painted by ukraine based Oleg Shupliak and is called "Double Dutch".  This painting shows two portraits of post-impressionist Vincent Van Gogh, one of which is used to create the nose of the main image. Two paintings form one single potrait. Quite amazing!

In Arizona it was warm and sunny when Ken wrote this card. I believe it still is :)

The setting of sun seems to pause to be cradled in the massive arms of saguaro cactus at Saguaro National Monument west of Tucson. These mighty plants often grow to hights of over 15 meters (50 feets) and live over 200 years on the harsh desert.

Katyan kotikaupunki on Orel, joka tarkoittaa kotkaa. Hän lähetti kortin Mozhaiskin Pyhän Nikolain katedraalista. Kortti on  yksi S.M. Prokudin-Gorskin kuvasarjasta "The Russian Empire". 

Mozhaysk is a city located in Moskovskaya oblast, about 110 km to the west of Moscow city. The cathedral was built in 1779-1820 and is one of the main attractions of present day Mozhaisk.

Jo asuu kauniissa Antwerpenissa  ja hänkin lähetti kortin kotikaupunkinsa kuuluisimmasta nähtävyydestä, Neytsyt Marian katedraalista ja Groenplaats-aukiosta. Katedraali on tullut kuuluisaksi myös Peter Paul Rubensin maalauksista. 

The main church in the city of Antwerp is The Cathedral of Our Lady.  The towering Cathedral  is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture and the largest church in Benelux. Antwerp Cathedral also shelters four magnificent Rubens altarpieces.

Monet muistavat vielä tämän tutun itäsaksalaisen unihiekka-nukkumatin.  Vuodesta 1972 tämä kiltti " unen asiantuntija" aloitti esiintymisen Suomen televisiossa.  Hän saapui joka ilta erilaisella kulkuneuvolla, joskus polkupyörällä, joskus taas Trabantilla, helikopterilla tai kuuraketilla, valikoima oli suuri. Vuodesta 1977 ohjelma siirtyi Pikku Kakkoseen, jossa Nukkumatti esiintyi aina ohjelman alussa ja lopussa. Kukaan ei enää muistanut vanhaa, sateenvarjon kassa lentelevää ja unisilla tossuilla sipsuttelevaa Nukkumattia, uudeksi korvamadoksi tuli: 

"Nukkumatti, Nukkumatti lasten

 illoin kulkee, heittää unihiekkaa. 

Päivän leikit aika lopettaa on,

 kun TV:n iltasatu alkaa"

The Little Sandman was a beloved fairytale character who put the little ones to sleep with his fantastic adventures and magic powder. Since 1959 this puppet-like  character with a long munchkin beard called Sandmännchen or Little Sandman, sent a goodnight message to East German young children every night and since 1972 also to Finnish children. 

The character of Little Sandman, a good-natured dwarf wearing a cape and a hat, with a sack of gold dust in his hand deeply sank into the minds of many viewers. The magic sand, with which the main character made children fall asleep is a matter of desire for many parents trying to lull their naughty kids. 

Little Sandman uses various means of transportation - he arrives, for example, by helicopter to tell the children a fairy tale for good night.

– Hobitti-elokuvatrilogia perustuu J.R.R. Tolkienin kirjaan Hobitti eli Sinne ja takaisin.

– Kirjan tapahtumat sijoittuvat aikaan 60 vuotta ennen Taru sormusten herrasta -saagan tapahtumia.

– Hobitissa seikkailee nuori hobitti Bilbo Reppuli, jonka Gandalf-velho lähettää vaaralliselle matkalle kääpiöjoukon kanssa. Matkan aikana Bilbo saa haltuunsa salaperäisen sormuksen.

– Trilogian toinen osa, Smaugin autioittama maa, saapuu valkokankaille joulukuussa 2013.

– Päätösosa Sinne ja takaisin saa ensi-iltansa kesällä 2014.

Ja lauantaina voit jo varata lippuja Smaugin autioittamaan maahan :)

Tänään sain Raelyniltä kirjeen Uudesta-Seelannista. Kuori oli repeytynyt ja kortit kuoren sisällä litimärkiä, missä lienee kierrellyt rankkasateessa ja Itellan koneissa tärvääntynyt.
