Expo 2017 is an International Exposition scheduled to take place between June 10 and September 10, 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan. The Expo's theme is "Future Energy", and aims to create a global debate between countries, non-governmental organizations, companies and the general public on the crucial question: "How do we ensure a safe and sustainable access to energy for all whilst reducing CO2 emissions?"

Ira lives in Kiev and she writes that St. Andrew's Church is the most beautiful church in Kiev.  The church looks truly amazing colored with blue, green and white and with onion domes. I would love to peek inside the church.

St. Andrew's Church is so named because legend says that St. Andrew erected a cross on the location where the church was built. Older churches did not survive, and Russian Empress Elizabeth ordered St. Andrew's Church to be built in the Baroque style in the 18th century.

 Ratusha and Rynok Square in  old Lviv
I received this postcard from Maria who lives in Lviv. The card shows an old city view of Rynok (Market) Square. Today the square is still very popular among locals and tourists because it seems to have  special medieval magic.

The Ratusha is home to Lviv’s City Council and one of the city’s cherished symbols.  It’s one Rynok Square's newest buildings–having been completed in 1835–but the first mention of it dates back to 1381. The tower was once wooden and the building has undergone numerous changes throughout history, but it has always hosted Lviv’s government. The Ratusha’s observation deck at the very top of the tower is open year-round and offers one of the best views in Lviv, making it a must-see for any tourist.

Zarina can enjoy these magnificent New Year Lights in her hometown - lucky Zarina :) I'm sure those lights bring a lot of happiness and beauty to all the people of Dnipropetrovsk.

The New Year Tree in Dnipropetrovsk is the biggest in Ukraine and one of the largest ones in Europe in the number of lanterns and lights, more than three million of them. There is unique 14 meter hi-tech New Year tree in the center of the town, about 100 other decorated trees.

H is for Hungary

We spent my 50th birthday in Budapest. This card I sent to my mother. " We have been walking all day long on the banks of Danube. This is a lovely city with beautiful buildings, although the Danube isn't  Blue anymore, but the weather is sunny and warm. "

And I really fell in love to Budapest.

The Parliament was built between 1885 and 1902, at the time the largest parliamentary building in the world. The building has a length of 268 meters and is 118 meters wide. The parliament house contains more than 20 km staircase, and 691 rooms. The elegant dome has a height of 69 meters. The main style of the building is neo-gothic with renaissance influences, but the base ground plan is Baroque. 

 Budapest's Chain Bridge and Castle Hill at night.

The Chain Bridge was the first permanent stone-bridge connecting Pest and Buda, and only the second permanent crossing on the whole length of the river Danube. It is one of the symbolic buildings of Budapest, the most widely known bridge of the Hungarian capital.

The Castle Hill contains Budapest's most important medieval monuments and museums. It is the premier sight in the capital with its great views and so many things to see as The Royal Palace, Matthias Church,  Fisherman's Bastion and lovely little shops and cafees.

We had my birthday celebration here.

Perhaps we had  gulasch or pörkölt, paprikas and palacsinta-pancakes.

Kárpátia Restaurant is one of the oldest Budapest restaurants, a city landmark since 1877. 

 In 1987 Budapest was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List for the cultural and architectural significance of the Banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter and Andrássy Avenue.
