Kristiinankaupnki, New Church, Finland

The construction work on the new church of Kristiinankaupunki was completed in 1897. The church is a red-brick construction and follows the design of architect Jac Ahrenberg. The tower is 47 metres in height and the church accommodates approximately 1,000 parishioners at a time.

The church’s architectural example was the Roman temple of Pantheon. The church was completed in 1798. The architect was Louis Jean Deprez, court painter to King Gustav III. The altar painting depicts the Saviour’s appearance to Mary Magdalene.

Svenska dagen - Ruotsalaisuuden päivä - Finnish Swedish Heritage Day

  Finnish Swedish Heritage Day (Swedish: Svenska dagen, Finnish: Ruotsalaisuuden päivä) is a general flag day, which is celebrated in Finland on November 6. The day celebrates the Swedish-speaking population of Finland, their culture, and the bilinguality of Finland. The main celebrations are aired on the radio, and many smaller celebrations are held around Finland in schools. Usually, the song Modersmålets sång is sung, celebrating the mother tongue. The Finnish Swedish Heritage Day is celebrated on the same day as Gustavus Adolphus Day in Sweden, the day that king Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden was killed at the Battle of Lützen in 1632.

Kristinestad - Kristiinankaupunki is a town and a municipality in Finland. It is located in the western part of Finland on the shore of the Bothnian Sea. The population of Kristinestad is 6,599 (31 January 2019) The population is bilingual with a majority speaking Swedish (57%) and the minority Finnish (42%).The town was chartered in 1649 by Per Brahe the Younger at Koppö island and is named for Queen Christina of Sweden. Kristinestad is known for its old town with low wooden houses and narrow alleys. In April, 2011, Kristinestad became Finland's first Cittaslow community.

Kaskinen- Kaskö

Kaskinen-Kaskö is a town and municipality of Finland. It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Ostrobothnia region. The population of Kaskinen is 1,263. The population is bilingual with a majority speaking Finnish (68%) and the minority Swedish (28%).

Kaskinen is the smallest municipality in Finland with a town status.

Porvoo- Borgå

Porvoo - Borgå  is a city and a municipality situated on the southern coast of Finland. It is one of the six medieval towns in Finland, first mentioned as a city in texts from the 14th century. Porvoo is the seat of the Swedish-speaking Diocese of Borgå of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland.

The municipality's official languages are Finnish and Swedish. In 2014, 64.6% of the population spoke Finnish as their native language, while 30.1% were Swedish speakers.

Built in 1900, Harju pavilion is an eastern-influenced Art Nouveau building of cultural and historical value, and an absolute must for visitors to Heinola. Harju pavilion is located near the centre of the town, in Harjupuisto Park, within walking distance of the marketplace.

Luostarinmäki Handicrafts Museum

In 1827 the Great Fire of Turku caused massive destruction, but Luostarinmäki was spared from the flames. Nowadays the old quarter and artisans of Luostarinmäki form a unique atmosphere, where time stands still. At the museum, journey in time to life of the common folk from the 1800.

The beautiful and historically significant Helsinki Cathedral is an Evangelic Lutheran church, and for many it is the symbol of Helsinki. The church was designed by architect Carl Ludwig Engel in the 19th century as part of the Empire-style-downtown Helsinki area. The cathedral was completed in 1852.

Häme Castle in Hämeenlinna is one of Finland's medieval royal castles. It is believed to have been built at the end of the 13th century.

Kristiinankaupunki / Kristinestad  was named by the Queen Kristina of Sweden.
