Boris Mikhaylovich Kustodiev (1878 – 1927) was a Russian painter and stage designer.
Kustodijev opiskeli alun alkaen teologisessa seminaarissa, kunnes hän vuosina 1896–1903 sai Pietarissa opetusta Ilja Repiniltä. Kustodijev matkusteli uransa aikana laajalti eri puolilla Eurooppaa. Maalaustöidensä ohella hän esimerkiksi kuvitti kirjoja. Hän oli fyysisesti heikko; hän sairasti tuberkuloosia ja vietti vuosia jalat halvaantuneina. Ruumiillisista vaivoista huolimatta Kustodijev maalasi lukuisia teoksia, jotka kuvasivat iloisin sävyin tuon ajan Venäjää ja sen ihmisiä. Hän kuoli 49-vuotiaana.

These postcards are all so wondrously colorful--I loved them all, but especially the hot air balloons. One of the highlights of my life was to go on a hot air balloon ride. I will never forget how incredibly normal it felt to be floating through the air--like it was something we should be able to do without help. Thank you for posting! I have been out of town and am just now getting caught up. Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!
Oh wow! It makes me envious of these beautiful postcards. It's my dream to ride a hot air balloon over a nice area -- but expensive!
