Winter swimming (or ice hole/pool swimming, when done in an ice hole) is a traditional Finnish outdoor activity. First winter swimming clubs were founded in the 1920’s and since then winter swimming as an outdoor and health enhancing physical activity has become increasingly popular.

Middle of the Road is a Scottish pop group who have enjoyed success across Europe and Latin America since the 1970s. Before ABBA established themselves in the mid 70s, Middle of the Road were the sound of early europop with their distinctive harmonies and lead vocals from Sally Carr.

Dances at Hämeenkaari, Hämeenlinna, Finland,  1960s

The Finnish dance culture is unique; you cannot find as many individual dance pavilions in any other country. You will have the opportunity to experience up to 15 different dances in one night! 

In Finnish this event is called “lavatanssit” – people will gather to one (out of almost 800) dance pavilion and dance with each other through the night. If you’re not very big on dancing, it is also a great social event. These dances have a very unique mood and dancing is a health-promoting exercise!

Advent Calendar Day 3. - Christmas Birds

Also wild animals must be remembered. During Christmas time. Sheaves of oats are placed outside on yards to feed little birds through the coldest winter season.

Advent begins on the fourth Sunday prior to Christmas Day, or the Sunday which falls closest to November 30, and lasts through Christmas Eve, or December 24. When Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday, it is the last, or fourth Sunday of Advent.

 Light one candle on the First of Advent, let it burn down a little and then light it again on the second Advent together with the second candle and so on.

 I recieved  these cards from my pen pal in 1965. I was so proud, nobody else had such special Beatles photos as me.  You can peek into my room  and take a time travel to the 60s if you go here and listen to this.

 Yesterday was recorded in 1965 in album Help!

But it was 50 years ago on March 22 1963 
when The Beatles' released Please Please Me,

 their first studio album.
