Windmills

A unique piece of Dutch history on the River Zaan

The Zaanse Schans., a well-known outdoor attraction, was set up with the intention to preserve the historical heritage. Between 1961 and 1974 many old buildings and mills from the Zaanstreek were transported with low loaders to the Zaance Schans.

Windmills

Kinderdijk
In 1997, the windmill complex of Kinderdijk was added to the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage list because of its unique character. UNESCO considers the polder area with its dykes, boezems, mills and pumping stations to be proof of human inventiveness in reclaiming and protecting the land.

Dalfsen and Ameland

Mirjam sent a card from the place where she lives.
Dalfsen is a municipality and a town in the Salland region of the Dutch province of Overijssel.

Postcard shows an old chocolade atelier from year 1625 and  the Catholic Church in Nes on the island of Ameland. Nicole  lives near this island, it takes about 45 min for to get there.

Nes is the second largest village on the island of Ameland, one of the West Frisian Islands in the northern Netherlands. Nes has  become a popular tourist destination, as the place where the ferry from the mainland arrives.
