It is the location of the University of Greifswald's ornithological station.

Las Perlas is now opening its unexplored nature for tourist all around the world. Recently, the Pearl Islands have been featured in three seasons of the reality-TV show Survivor.

Island of Pain and Sorrow

Spinalonga is an arid and barren rocky islet with an area of 8.5 hectares lying at the mouth of the natural port of Elounda in the Lasithi prefecture of Crete. Due to its strategic location, it was fortified and served a variety of roles and purposes over the centuries. Here, on an island where lepers from Crete and the rest of Greece had been kept in isolation until 1957, a story about love and pain, separation and fear was born. Today, the uninhabited island is a popular tourist attraction in Crete.  Turism has  increased since Victoria Hislop's book " The Island"  was published in 2005,

Pacific Rim National Park Reserve is a Canadian national park reserve in British Columbia made up of parks of three separate regions: Long Beach, the Broken Group Islands, and the West Coast Trail. The entire park encompasses 511 km2 (197 sq mi) of land and ocean. The park is characterized by rugged coasts and lush temperate rainforests. The park is open from mid-March until mid-October. The park was inaugurated in 1971 by Princess Anne of England.

Telendos is a sweet little island a stone's throw from Kalymnos, just 900 meters away. A small, barren, rocky island with marvelous sea, no cars and just 50 inhabitants.

Agioi Thodorou, Crete, Greece

Agioi Thodorou (Saints Theodore ) is the name of the small island opposite Platanias in Crete, more or less in the middle of the bay. It reminds a huge turtle with it mouth open as if it’s about to attack or bite something. 

The Thodorou Islands once guarded Crete from her enemies, but now they protect the Cretan Ibex  from its own enemies, the hunters who would love to add the famous Kri- Kri, the wild goat of Crete, to their trophies.

I've been sick for the past 5 days with a nasty flu and this whole week I've been pretty inefficient and tired. So I decided to cheer me up and browse our old holiday cards from Sao Miguel, the green island of Azores.  These cards I sent to my mother.
