Bukovina is a historical region in Central Europe, divided between modern-day Romania and Ukraine, located on the northern slopes of the central Eastern Carpathians and the adjoining plains.

Bucovina is known for its folk costumes, furniture, pottery, tapestries and carpets. The craftsmen continue the traditions inherited from their past generations. Masks, traditional costumes, painted eggs, carved wooden objects, embroideries and carpets are still elements of daily life.

UNESCO World Heritage
Among the most picturesque treasures of Romania are the Painted Monasteries of Bucovina. Their painted exterior walls are decorated with elaborate 15th and 16th century frescoes featuring portraits of saints and prophets, scenes from the life of Jesus, images of angels and demons, and heaven and hell.
