On the way from Maliník to Bedřichov

The Krkonoše or Giant Mountains, are a mountain range located in the north of the Czech Republic and the south-west of Poland, part of the Sudetes mountain system. On both sides of the border, large areas of the mountains are designated national parks and these together constitute a cross-border biosphere reserve under the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Programme.

Baltic island Rügen, Germany
Chalk cliffs in the Jasmund national park

The Jasmund National Park is a nature reserve on the Jasmund peninsula, in the northeast of Rügen island.   It is famous for containing the largest chalk cliffs in Germany, the Königsstuhl.  These cliffs are up to 161 m (528 ft) above the Baltic Sea. The beech forests behind the cliffs are also part of the national park.  On June 25, 2011 the beech forest in the park was added to UNESCO World Heritage Site as an extension of the Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and the Ancient Beech Forests of Germany.
