Frida and Diego Rivera. 1931
The Pigeon in the upper-righthand corner carries a banner that reads: “Here you see us, me Frida Kahlo, with my dearest husband Diego Rivera. I painted these pictures in the delightful city of San Francisco California for our companion Mr. Albert Bender, and it was in the month of April of the year 1931. ”
Portrait of Diego Rivera. 1937
This portrait was painted when Diego was fifty-one years old.
Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird, 1940
In this portrait thorns are around Frida's neck like a necklace which is held by a black monkey. Her neck is bleeding from the piercing thorns. Her expression is calm and solemn. It also seems she is patiently enduring the pain.
Self-Portrait in Medallion 1948
In this portrait, Frida is wearing the traditional Tehuana costume which Diego Rivera admired a lot.
She looks sad.
