Teuva Church, Finland, 1953

Teuva Church and parish centre from 1953 was built after the old wooden church was destroyed in a fire in 1950. The new church was designed by Elsi Borg, a groundbreaking female church architect. 

The altarpiece ‘Ten Virgins’ was painted by artist, writer and cartoonist Tove Jansson. The project was at the time revolutionary, both church architect and painter of the altarpiece being women.
