The Holy Trinity Column in Olomouc, in the Czech Republic is a Baroque monument that was built between 1716 to 1754. The main purpose was to celebrate the Catholic Church and faith, partly caused by feeling of gratitude for ending a plague, which struck Moravia  between 1713 and 1715.The column was also understood to be an expression of local patriotism, since all artists and master craftsmen working on this monument were Olomouc citizens, and almost all depicted saints were connected with the city of Olomouc in some way.

It is the biggest Baroque sculptural group in the Czech Republic. In 2000 it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as "one of the most exceptional examples of the apogee of central European Baroque artistic expression".

Prague Astronomical Clock

The Prague astronomical clock is a medieval astronomical clock located in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. The clock was first installed in 1410, making it the third-oldest astronomical clock in the world and the oldest one still operating.

The four figures flanking the clock are set in motion at the hour, these represent four things that were despised at the time of the clock's making. Vanity, represented by a figure admiring himself in a mirror. Next, the miser holding a bag of gold represents greed or usury. Across the clock stands Death, a skeleton that strikes the time upon the hour. Finally there is a figure representing lust and earthly pleasures. On the hour, the skeleton rings the bell and immediately all other figures shake their heads, side to side, signifying their unreadiness "to go."
There is also a presentation of statues of the Apostles at the doorways above the clock, with all twelve presented every hour. Wikipedia

Raatihuoneen seinässä on yksi Prahan suosituimmista nähtävyyksistä, astronominen kello. Sen rakensivat vuonna 1410 kellosepät Jan Sindel ja Mikulas Kadanilainen. Kello kertoo ajan lisäksi mm. auringon ja kuun sijainnin. Tasatunnein 12 apostolia vaeltaa kellossa olevan luukun aukosta ja kuolemaa kuvaava luuranko soittaa kelloa ja kääntää tiimalasin alassuin. Lopuksi kukko heiluttaa siipiään ja kiekaisee ylimmässä syvennyksessä luukkujen sulkeutuessa. Wikipedia

Bridges - Czech Republic

Make a wish on the Charles Bridge
Charles Bridge Charles Bridge (Karlův most) is the most famous bridge that crosses the Vltava river in Prague.  Charles Bridge (Karlův most) is a 14th century stone bridge linking the two sides of Prague. This magnificent structure, one of the city's finest attractions, is the main pedestrian route connecting the Old Town with the  Lesser Town / Prague Castle.

Postcard from the eastern side of Staroměstské Square

Distance: 1,493 km (928 miles)

I received this card from Milan.
She lives in small town Cernosice near Prague and castle Karlštejn.
Thank you Milan, again I learned lots of new things and words in Czech!
The Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí) is one of two main squares in Prague. The Old Town Square dates from the 12th century and started life as the central marketplace for Prague. Over the centuries buildings of Romanesque, Baroque and Gothic styles were erected around the market, each bringing with them stories of wealthy merchants and political intrigue.
The Church of Our Lady before Týn (Kostel Matky Boží před Týnem), a characteristic dominant of the Old Town, was constructed from the 14th to the beginning of the 16th century. The two spires of this powerful looking, Gothic church can be observed from all over Prague.
Second on the left is the Golz-Kinský Palace wich was built in the years 1755-1765
The father of Franz Kafka had a small shop on the ground floor of the Palace.
