On January 6. we celebrate Epiphany.  In Finland it is called loppiainen, a name which means "ending of Christmas time" and the Christmas tree is traditionally taken out of the house on Epiphany.

For children it means the end of Christmas holidays.

Croft House Tales

Horses were essential in the hard labour of the countryside whether tilling the soil or harvesting the crops, In the winter time horses hauled logs from thr woods and on Sundays horses-pulled sledges took people tothe  churchor to visit friends and family. Horses were valued greatly.

Finland is one of the best inhabited regions in the world for viewing northern lights, i.e. auroras.

Northern Lights 

The typical time for auroral displays is at midnight, and a couple of hours before and after. However, auroras may occur randomly anytime when the sky is dark enough for seeing them.
