Adolph Tidemand ( 1814 – 1876) was a noted Norwegian romantic nationalism painter. Among his best known paintings are The Haugeans, 1852 and The Bridal Procession in Hardanger,1848.

Hans Fredrik Gude (1825 – 1903) was also a Norwegian romanticist painter is considered  to be one of Norway's foremost landscape painters. He has been called a mainstay of Norwegian National Romanticism.  Tidemand and Gude collaborated on several other paintings, all of which featured people in boats and Norwegian nature.

Cesar Buenaventura was a Filipino painter known throughout his home country for his vibrantly colorful and thickly painted depictions of landscapes and people of the Philippines. Buenaventura often depicted farmers plowing fields or fisherman coming back from the sea, focusing on quiet scenes of everyday domestic and agrarian life. 

The Nipa hut is a type of stilt house indigenous to the vast majority of lowland Austronesian cultures of the Philippines. It often serves as an icon of Philippine culture or, more specifically, Filipino rural culture.

 "Best Place to Live in the Philippines"

Bacolod  City is one of the best destinations in the Philippines. Great food, peaceful and serene community, easy access to basic needs, hospitable people — Bacolod  is all these and more. Known for being a relatively friendly city, it bears the nickname “City of Smiles.” Bacolod  City is the capital and the largest highly urbanized mid-size Philippine city of the province of Negros Occidental. Having a total of 499,497 inhabitants as of August 1, 2007, it is the most populous city in the Western Visayas Region. Bacolod City serves as the entrance of the sugar-rich cities and towns of the Province.

Colorful Philippines

The Masskara Festival is a festival held each year in October  in Bacolod, Philippines. The Masskara (a combination of the English word “mass” and the Spanish “kara,” meaning “face”) is a Festival that started in the early 1980s, when world prices for sugar plummeted; and Bacolod City, the country’s sugar capital, was hit by a major crisis. The city government and artists banded together to find ways to lift the people’s spirits (not to mention their deteriorating economy), so they decided to throw a party!

My friend Mikko lives part of the year in Bacolod  and this card is from him.

Sandcastles along the White Beach on Boracay Island, Philippines

This card is from Vicky and she writes that these sandcastles are created by the people of the island and that Boracay Islandis one of the world's top destination for relaxation  and getaway, with warm blue waters, powder-fine white sand and a palm fringed 4-kilometer beach. 

An other beach is from Anny -  Hengchun  Peninsula, Taiwan 

Hengchun Township is an urban township located on the southern tip of the Hengchun Peninsula of Pingtung County, Taiwan. It is the southernmost township in Taiwan. The city of Hengchun is the entry way to Kenting National Park, the southernmost National Park in the country. With pristine beaches and a vibrant tourist industry, the Hengchun area often attracts more travelers than local residents.

Jose Rizal oli patriootti ja  kansallissankari.  Hänestä kerrotaan paljon tarinoita, jotka esittävät hänet lukuisia kieliä osaavana yleisnerona. Hän opiskeli euroopassa lääketiedettä ja harrasti runoutta ja kuvataiteita. Hän kirjoitti mm. maan kansallisrunon Mi Último Adiós eli viimeiset jäähyväiset.
Vaikka Rizal oli aika maltillinen, hän onnistui kuitenkin ärsyttämään espanjalaisia siirtomaaherroja ja hankkimaan itselleen kuolemantuomion.  Ennen teloitustaan hän jättää jäähyväiset isänmaalleen, läheisilleen ja maailmalle runolla, joka päättyy sanoihin:  Morir es descansar - kuolema on lepo.
