Helga lähetti kortin Wartburgin linnasta. Wartburgin linna on eräs Saksan kuuluisimmista keskiaikaisista linnoista. Se sijaitsee Thüringenissa Eisenachin kaupungissa 410 metrin korkuisella kukkulalla. Linna valittiin vuonna 1999 Unescon maailmaperintökohteeksi.

The Wartburg Castle sits on a steep hill, overlooking the city of Eisenach. It is one of the oldest and best-preserved Romanesque castles in Germany.

Lindsey asuu Coloradossa, USA:ssa ja lähetti kortin, jonka hän oli ostanut useita vuosia sitten kouluretkellään Englantiin ja Irlantiin. Hän toivoo pääsevänsä sinne joskus uudestaan, jahka hänen lapsensa on vähän vanhempi.

The rock rises from the Plain of Tipperary forming a striking landmark which can be seen from all roads leading to the town. From the 4th to the 12th centuries it was the principal stronghold of the Kings of Munster, but after being visited by St. Patrick in the 5th century it acquired a religious significance which was seen outshine its political importance.

In the 13th century it came into the hands of King  Edward I, for whom it became a favourite residence; in the 16th century, Henry VIII used it as a residence for his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. The castle today dates mostly from the 19th century and is built on islands in a lake formed by the River Len to the east of the village of Leeds. It has been open to the public since 1976. Laura Muntz Lyall (June 18, 1860 – December 9, 1930) was a Canadian impressionist painter, known for her portrayal of mothers and children.

  Ralf Düsseldorfista lähetti tämän suloisen kortin, jossa isosisko lukee varmaankin iltasatua pikkuveljelleen. Ralf itse harrastaa dekkarien lukemista ja hän suosittelee James Pattersonin sarjaa" Naisten murhakerho".  Voi olla, että olen lukenutkin jonkun osan, mutta ei ole kyllä jäänyt erikoisesti mieleen. Nyt olen laittanut murhakerhon kirjastolistalle.

Ralf from Düsseldorf sent this cute card of children reading, perhaps a goodnight story. Ralf  him self likes  to read detective stories and he recomended James Patterson books "Women's Murder Club "

Vladimir Arzhevitin /Domovoi- kodin henki kissansa kanssa

Meillä asustaa kakluunin päällä vähän samannäköinen "esi-isä",
joka tarkasti vartioi talon asukkaita korkeuksistaan.
Domovoista en ole aikaisemmin kuullutkaan, joten siitä piti ottaa selvää.
Kiitos Eugene oikein paljon hauskasta kortistasi.

I have never heard about Demovoi before so I had to search help.....

Demovoi or domovye are masculine, typically small, bearded, and sometimes covered in hair all over. According to some traditions, domovye take on the appearance of current or former owners of the house and have a grey beard, sometimes with tails or little horns. There are tales of neighbours seeing the master of the house out in the yard while in fact the real master is asleep in bed. It has also been said that domovye can take on the appearance of cats or dogs, but reports of this are fewer than of that mentioned before.

Minä olen ilmeisesti perinyt jostakin erikoisen "vanhojentalojen geenin ".  Jo aivan nuorena ihailin vanhoja, punaisia, harmaita ja ränsistyneitäkin puutaloja. Halusin sellaisen itselleni joskus isona  ja sainkin, vanhan, punaisen ja vähän ränsistyneen. Tatyana Moskovasta oli ilmeisesti lukenut profiiliani tarkasti  ( I like narrow streets with old houses :), hän lähetti minulle tämän viehättävän katunäkymän Irkutskista. Ikkunakoristeet talossa  ovat upeat,  irkutskilaisen puusepän taidonnäyte. Suosikkikortti!

The  Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood , St. Petersburg. This marvelous Russian-style church was built on the spot where Emperor Alexander II was assassinated in March 1881.

Mariya lähetti kortin Pietarista.  Kortissa on ehkä kuuluisin kaupungin nähtävyys: Verikirkko tai Kristuksen ylösnousemuksen katedraali, joka rakennettiin tsaari Aleksanteri II:n muistoksi paikalle, jolla hänet salamurhattiin vuonna 1881.

Tyumen area is one of the largest regions in Russia. It is more than 8,4% of the area of Russia, which equivalent to territory of Germany, France, Italy, Grat Britain, all together. 

Ludmila asuu Tyumenissa, Siperiassa ja lähetti kortin kotikaupungistaan. Hän kertoo, että Leniniä arvostetaan Tyumenin alueella edelleen ja patsaat ovat vieläkin kunniapaikoillaan hallintorakennusten edessä.

Boem, (1843-1914) was a talented Russian graphic artist. Born in St. Petersburg, her family moved to Yaroslavl when she was 6 years old. One of her art teachers was Ivan Kramskoi, the influential Russian painter and critic. Her many postcard series were very successful and one of the most well-known is "The Russian Alphabet".

Taas uusi tuttavuus venäläisistä taiteilijoista, ja Elenan lähettämä kortti kyllä piristi marraskuun ensimmäisen päivän harmautta. Toinen suosikkikortti!

And now it's November, I must shape up with my updates :)

 Don from Australia sent this card showing Blue Mountains Crossing Re-enactment, 200th Anniversary of first European Crossing, May 1813 - May 2013. He also told an interesting story  how his great-great grandfather and the family traveled to Iman Valley on the Fleurieu Peninsula. 

When these these guys came back to Holland from a long journey,

 they sure were happy to see Brinta !

Hooray! There is Brinta again!

Linda writes that Brinta is one of the most famous and oldest breakfast in Netherlands.

Renato from Italy must be a real flower person, he sent me this nice ad card of Eurolora.  Euroflora is an international event event held in every five years.  Between the exhibitions with the same typology it is the most visited in Europe. 

Matthias from Germany has five dogs and he thinks he can't take such peaceful picture of his dogs together with a cat. The text in the card says: Two friends have to be similar in their hearts, in all other things they can be completely different.

There are no golden leaves hanging on the trees anymore. 

October means hard work for gardeners, but kids love it!
